Original Watercolor Painting, Freshly Fallen Snow by Laura Poss

Winter isn't usually my favorite season, but on days like the one in this painting, it's hard to remember why. It was hot outside while I was working on this piece, but the snowy winter scene that I had captured with my camera early the previous spring was calling out to me to paint it. This is a great painting to give to yourself or someone else who would enjoy being reminded of peaceful snowy days, when the world has been covered in fresh, white beauty and everything seems new again.

This painting is 7 x 10 inches and painted on 140 lb Winsor Newton hot pressed watercolor paper. It comes in a sealed clear bag/sleeve for protection.

Artist's Statement and Bio:

I create art because I am compelled to do so. The feeling I get from creating something that pleases my senses—and hopefully the senses of others—has held me in its grasp as long as I can remember. When I see something that captivates my eyes, I immediately start thinking about how to translate it into a drawing or painting.

I have been working as a professional artist for over 13 years and have been practicing drawing and painting my whole life. I am a native of Greensboro, North Carolina, where I currently live and maintain a studio. I also teach watercolors to students of all levels and love to share my deep passion for the medium with others.

I am incredibly honored to have sold paintings to collectors from around the world and to have received numerous prestigious awards for my work. Most notably, I achieved Signature Membership in the American Watercolor Society in January 2021, which is earned by receiving juried acceptance into 3 separate AWS International Juried exhibitions and is meant to be an indication of the painter having established a consistent style and to have demonstrated considerable skill in the medium. I am also a Signature Member of the Southern Watercolor Society, Watercolor Society of North Carolina, and the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society.
