Description

This vintage huipil was handwoven by a Guatemalan artisan using a backstrap loom with additional embroidery details. It is totally one-of-a-kind.

Each region of Guatemala has their own unique textile design. Like other aspects of the culture, the designs change with time. Guatemalan weavers identify the textile's age and origin by the design. This huipil is from the Tecpan region, distinguished by its striped weave and geometric embroidery. This particular huipil features unique pastel coloring.

Approximately 22 inches tall x 28.5 inches wide

Open on sides

100% cotton

Item has slight imperfections due to its age and handmade origin. Please see photos. We believe these qualities tell a vintage textile's story and are part of what makes each piece unique.
