A lapidary slab of rough Morrisonite Jasper, also known as Morrison Ranch Jasper, from Malheur County, Oregon. This fantastic stone was discovered in the 1940s and has not been mined since 1996 (and likely won't be again). It's known as the "King of the Jaspers" because of its highly varied coloring and outstanding patterns. It features bright splashes of color, orb flow patterns, and landscape and picture scenes. It is understood Morrisonite formed as veins within a host rhyolite when the Yellowstone Hotspot was underneath the Owyhees millions of years ago.

This slab features a nice mix of pinks and reds. It appears to be solid and should yield at least one cabochon. It is an end piece measures roughly 60 mm x 70 mm at its widest points, and varies in thickness from 12 mm to 7 mm.

Photos taken outside in natural light. Rocks are wet to better indicate color once polished. If you buy multiple slabs I will combine shipping costs.

It is considered standard practice to seal certain vugs or small pits that may appear in a cabochon with clear epoxy. This ensures a smooth, consistent surface when the stone is polished. I will only mention this in a listing if considerable work was done to seal imperfections.
Some stones simply do not photograph all that well. If there is a considerable difference, I will point it out in the listing. Also remember we're all viewing the photos from different monitors with potentially different settings, so some variation may be present.
Yes, I will combine shipping for multiple items where appropriate. In these cases I will refund the difference on the shipping after I have mailed out the items.
I will only list cabochons if they meet my standards: even domes and bezels, no visible flat spots or scratches, and high polish. I want you to be happy with the stones, and take pride in the piece of custom jewellery you set them in.
Some of the items in my shop are handmade by me, and others are vintage stones cut many years ago which I have accumulated in my collection. I state the status of each item in the listing.
