Rare Staret Brooch Enameled Pot Metal Fish

At 4-1/2" in length, this Staret enameled pot metal fish brooch is a rare find. I only know of one other in a private collection. Staret was in business for only a few years in the early 1940's. The high end Staret pieces are usually quite large with enameling and rhinestones. This brooch is known for its gorgeous colors and detail including pave set rhinestones outlining the fins, the tail, gills and mouth. Enamel colors include yellow, blue, green, a little brown and a pale red. One large red rhinestone serves as the bass's eye. In its mouth, a genuine cultured pearl, measuring 7+ mm. The original pearl was damaged and so this was professionally restored. On the back, you can see remnants of the clear glue used to fix the pearl on the screw stem. There are well over 100 rhinestones on this brooch, one or two have been expertly replaced. Incredibly sparkly. Signed Staret in all capital letters on the silver-colored back. Long, strong pin stem with a little wear to the finish and a secure safety clasp make this a must-have for the collector. Hold it in your hands and you will fall in love. It is a magnificent work of art.
