Description

This is for 1 gallon of High Strength Food Grade Silicone Rubber. You will receive 1/2 Gallon of activator and 1/2 Gallon of base for a total of 1 gallon or 9.4 lbs. Feel confident knowing that we sell only fresh materials and offer full technical support with a money back guarantee.

Cast-A-Mold Platinum is a platinum (addition) cured silicone rubber used for a variety of mold making applications. It exhibits an easy 1 to 1 mix ratio, low viscosity, excellent tear strength, tensile strength, elongation, heat deflection, has a long library life and is semi-clear. Cast-a-Mold Platinum can be used to make translucent rubber molds for casting candies, polyurethanes, epoxy's, polyester's, cement, low melt metals, concrete, soap, wax, plaster, etc.. It is user friendly, translucent, FDA compliant, and will cure at room temperature.

Platinum cured silicone rubber can be heat accelerated. For example if you heat the mold at 130 f the cure time will be reduced from 8 hours to around 30 minutes.

Product: Cast-A-Mold Platinum
Mix Ratio: 1:1 by weight
Working Time: 40.0 Minutes
Demold Time: 8.0 Hours
Heat Deflection: 400 f +
Tensile Strength, psi: 580
Elongation %: 500
Tear Resistance, ppi: 160
Color: Semi-Clear
Hardness: 20-A
Viscosity: 10,000 - 12,000 cps

Compare these physical properties to other silicone rubber being sold on ebay.

Note: For food applications you will need to wash the cured mold with warm water and soap before using.

Addition cured silicone rubber may be inhibited by certain contaminants resulting in tackiness on the surface of the mold. Latex, sulfur based clays, tin cured silicone rubber, amines, nitriles, organo-metallic salt containing compounds should be avoided. If you are unsure of the compatibility of the substrate being molded a small test is recommended. To prevent inhibition it is usually helpful to coat the pattern with a clear acrylic lacquer.
