A popular t-shirt amongst geologist, the phrase "Gneiss Schist" has been handstamped onto a brass disc. Underlying the disc is a copper disc embellished with circles.

Gneiss and schist are both metamorphic rocks. Gneiss is pronouned "Nice" and indicates very high grade (high pressure, high temperature) metamorphism. It is a swirly, banded rock and is very hard.

Schist develops in moderate grade metamorphic conditions and can contain platy minerals such muscovite, biotite, chlorite and hornblende. During metamorphism, these minerals preferentially align, giving the rock its characteristic foliation (thin layers). My favorite thing about schists are the recrystallized minerals that can grow during metamorphism: garnets, the aluminosilicates - kyanite, sillimanite and andalusite, staurolite (fairy crosses) and tourmaline to name a few!

* Perfect for the nerdy geologist or metamorphic petrologist in your life!
* Copper and Brass handstamped discs
* 16" copper ball chain

A note about COPPER:
Copper is a reactive metal and will oxidize over time to a darker color. The bright finish can be extended through the use of wax or lacquer, such as clear nail polish, if you don't like the natural darkening that will take place over time. I use museum quality preserving wax on all my copper/brass creations, but this is not a permanent treatment. I suggest cleaning your copper pieces using very fine steel wool or a polishing cloth of some kind. If you get a skin reaction from wearing copper, your best bet is a light coat of clear nail polish on the item to protect your skin. Please consider the reactivity of the metal and potential maintenance of items before you purchase any of my 100% pure copper creations.
Thank you.

ATTENTION!!! This is a 100% hand stamped item. I use an anvil and hammer to create each piece and no two are exactly alike. There can be variations in alignment and depth of images and other imperfections that are a result of me not being a machine. If you are looking for machine crafted perfection I am afraid my humble little creations may not be for you. Please consider this before you buy. Thanks.

Frequently asked questions about Nikhajewelry

Some items such as stamped items are customizable, but one of a kind items normally are not.
Some items can be lengthened or shortened upon request.

No. The process of stamping on one side makes an imprint on the back also, therefore items can only be stamped on one side.
All items are shipped in packaging suitable for gifting.
Do not wear your jewelry items in water/swimming. Copper and silver oxidize over time and can be kept clean with a polishing cloth. Oxidation can slowly wear away over time, leaving a rustic looking weathered patina.
