Copper Ammonite Fossil with Rose Quartz

Now extinct, the ammonite mollusc was a shelled cephalopod, usually appearing in a coiled, spiral shape. The extinction of ammonites coincided with the extinction of dinosaurs. Ammonites inhabited the world’s oceans and now appear as fossils in marine rocks. Because of their rapid evolution and wide distribution, ammonite fossils provide a useful tool for indexing and dating rocks. It is said that the original discus used by the ancient Greeks in their Olympics was in fact a fossilised ammonite. In India, ammonite fossils are identified with the god Vishnu and are used in various ceremonies. They are mostly collected in Nepal, from the bed of the River Gandaki where it cuts through Jurassic sediments. These fossils are known as "shaligram shila". The word ammonite is derived from Ammon, an Egyptian god who took the form of a ram. Ammonites are similar in appearance to a ram's horn.

Ammonite converts negative energy into a gently flowing positive spiral.

The addition of a beautiful piece of rose quartz that has been set in pure copper as well as the tourmaline rosary chain makes this one of a kind piece a must have for any ocean lover.

Pendant is approximately 1.15” x 1.25" and comes on a lovely 17" soldered gunmetal chain.

*I also handcraft copper rings and can custom create a ring to match!

The scientific and intricate process used to add layers of lovely copper is called electroforming. This process can be unpredictable and can take hours to days to complete just one wearable. There may be small perfect imperfections in the copper and it may darken over time. Each piece has been cleansed and sealed with you in mind.

FAQs

If you would like a certain chain length other than what’s listed, please let us know. Chains can be crafted in silver, copper, bronze, gunmetal and leather.

If you’re interested in an item and it’s not your size (ie. ring) send us a convo and we’d be happy to make one in your size.
Do you have an item that carries special meaning or holds a memory but it's just sitting on a shelf or in a drawer? We can create a custom necklace, bracelet, earrings or ring out of your item so you can carry it with you always. It can be made from any material; plastic to organic. We have crafted rings and earrings from stone, bones and even teeth. Necklaces can be crafted from shells, flowers, stones, you name it!
Pure copper changes color when exposed to air, elements, moisture and oils from your skin (think Statue of Liberty). This is called oxidation. Your skin may turn a green hue if worn for an extended period or due to your own body chemistry. All copper pieces have sealed with Protectaclear to slow this process. Your item may require additional sealant if worn often to avoid oxidation (of if you love it like I do, let it go!) However most find it a favorable trait as copper has healing powers. From time to time you can use wax or nail polish to guard off oxidation. Green coloring on the skin comes off with soap and water. Polishing copper jewelry (including chain) is as easy as finding an acidic item (lemon juice, vinegar) in the kitchen.
We will do our best to get your item out in 1-5 days. We typically attend art festivals on the weekends so if purchased late Friday-Sunday, your item will be shipped Monday. Also if you buy multiples and I can send in one box to save you shipping fees, I can refund the difference paid.
If an item gets returned to us through the mail due to inadequate shipping address, wrong address, etc., purchaser will need to pay for reshipping.
