Description

Offered here is a wonderful memento mori skull ring from Europe, circa late 1800's to early 1900's.

The ring is crafted of silver. There are no hallmarks, which is not unusual for Georgian and early Victorian period pieces.

The detailing contains wear yet is wonderfully rich. On the backside of the band is the axiom 'Memento Mori.' The enamel is in great condition with a bit of distress on the 2nd 'e' of Memento. I show pictures of this. For me, the wear is part of the glory and story of this lovely piece.

The pedestal that the skull sits on is approximately 15 mm or 5/8th's of an inch.
The skull, itself, measures approximately 9 to 10 mm. It has diamond eyes.
The band is a tad over 10 US, close to 10.25/10.5.

This ring seems to be a fraternal piece, possibly a Doctor's ring.

In alchemy, the skull is the bringer of New Revelation...the death of the old that leads to a new pattern of Emergence, understanding and consciousness. It symbolizes the capacity to move through Thresholds and engage the movement of change.

Keywords: Marian Mysteries, Initiation, Black Madonna, Mary Magdalene, Fierce Goddess, Eleusinian Mysteries, Skeleton Woman, Break-through, Soul-retrieval...Edge Walker.

Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.
I prefer Paypal or direct checkout through Etsy as it is a wonderful medium, easy to use, efficient and reliable. With paypal or direct checkout through Etsy, payment is expected at the time of purchase (unless we have agreement for partial payment on layaway items). I will also except USPS money orders. If using this method, your item will ship once I have received payment. Payment is due in a timely manner. If it is not, I have the right to cancel the sale.

A special note on Reserves and Lay-a-way: Reserve and Lay-a-way is a courtesy. Please do not reserve or lay-a-way unless you intend to follow through with purchase. If reserves/lay-a-ways are not followed through on, there will be a minimal charge of $10.00 to cover Etsy and Paypal fees and also the the work it takes me to set up this courtesy and then to delete and re-list. Additional charge may be incurred if the reserve/lay-a-way has been on hold for some time. This will be determined for each unique circumstance and deducted from the down payment. Thank you.

Shipping policies

In shipping, all items are packaged with the utmost care to ensure safe delivery. I take a lot of time with preparing my packages for the buyer. My experience with the post has been wonderful. In the US, packages will be sent with tracking, and are fully insured.

Please make sure your shipping information is clear and correct. I value buyer/seller relationship and want to collaborate to the utmost to ensure your package reaching you. YET PLEASE KNOW I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ITEMS ONCE THEY HAVE LEFT MY POSSESSION. Nor is Rustic Gypsy Creations liable for any lost or stolen shipments. All my packages in the US are insured, so should anything like this occur, we are protected through the Postal Service and will go through that process of reimbursement.

On International Shipping: I am open to international requests for shipping, however, I do not offer world wide shipping due to various customs and practices in mail handling. I ship all international packages 'registered and insured' or 'world-wide guaranteed' for this protects the buyer and myself. Due to the nature of the rare, antique items I create with, it is essential for me to have these treasures protected.

Additional policies

I would like to speak to convos and feedback. During my time with Etsy, I have enjoyed these two mediums immensely. Convos are a wonderful way to ask questions and seek to get your creative ideas and needs met. Feedback is a great way to share your appreciation and experience of the purchasing exchange. It is nutriment for the artist, and helps future buyers get to know the artist. Feedback also gives both the purchaser and supplier a way to achieve closure on their interaction. I ask that if my buyers are not happy with any element of our interaction that they contact me with this information. I appreciate the opportunity to resolve any issues before a buyer would leave negative feedback on my Etsy account. Let's be respectful with one another in this creative process!
