Because she is unable to stand alone she is widely assumed to have been created for holding. Therefore the 11.5cm figure displays on a solid oak stand with a brass armature that allows her to be easily removed. She is around 23cm tall with her display and comes presented in a box that includes a pamphlet about the origins of piece and the methods used to manufacture the replica.
All my figures are made from hand dug clay and fired using ancient firing methods. I have added a couple of images above to show her being fired. In the first she is in her green state during the initial warming process of an open firing. The second image shows her being fired. Once she has cooled I can decide whether she needs to return to the fire to correct her colour. Any carbon clouds that I feel are too strong can be burnt away. If I feel she is too orange I can dull the colour by flashing her through sawdust and returning her to the fire. Once I am happy with the colour she will be scrubbed and rough sanded to achieve her stone like surface, then finished with a wax patina to complete the look and feel of an ancient artefact. You can open the section below the shop banner to discover more about my firing methods.
Please remember that each figure has been hand crafted. There will be subtle variations in modelling and colouring that is a natural result of the wood firing. They can also vary in size from the original by a few millimeters due to varying amounts of temper and different clays that I use. The pictures above may show a figure that is incredibly similar to the one you will receive but not exactly the same. Please contact me if you would like a photo showing current stock.
