Description

The centerpiece of this malachite beaded necklace is about 2 and 1/2 inches long. I chose to use a scalloped wire bezel to encase and hold this fabulous green stone. Some of the first malachite deposits to be discovered were located in Egypt and Israel. Over 4000 years ago, they were mined and used to produce copper. We combined the secondary stone which is black botryoidal hematite from Morocco. I twisted the sterling silver wire around a silver tube cut at a 20 degree angle . The backing plate is solid 24 gauge sterling silver. It is highly polished and ultrasonically cleaned. Malachite is said to be a powerful metaphysical stone. Malachite is often called the “stone of transformation” and is used for deep energy cleaning, bringing healing and positive transformation to the wearer. Hematite is the mineral form of iron oxide and has a striking metallic luster, similar to polished metal. The word hematite comes from the Greek work "haima" meaning blood, referring to the mineral's red color when in powdered form. This piece has a very regal look to it when worn with dark colors and very elegant when worn with lighter colors."
For the beading portion of the necklace Sarah used sterling silver spacing beads as well as sterling highlight beads. There are Swarovski crystal beads that match the malachite color. The Czech glass beads are of high quality. The beading contains pony beads, seed beads and melon shaped beads. Sarah found some hematite beads that are pony, seed, disk and melon shapes. The necklace is finished with a sterling silver hook and hoop clasp which is easy to manipulate and can be squeezed to secure it around the neck. Sarah had fun in finding beads that are of the same material and colors of malachite and hematite. This magnificent necklace of such regal appearance is fit for the most formal outing as well a an attention getter for the not so formal affair. Matching earrings are available at a reasonable added cost. This piece is signed on the backing plate. Thank you for your interest in our jewelry and visiting our shop!
