What is the difference between the Raw finish and the Satin finish?

For many of our products we offer the option of different finishes. If you select the Raw option, the timber is left in its raw state but sanded very smooth to create a beautiful soft finish to the timber. The Satin is the most hardy of the finishes and is the best option for any product that will be exposed to moisture. Each product is firstly coated with a sealer and then several coats of a hardwearing Satin finish are applied. The Satin finish highlights the grain and give the timber a slightly warmer and richer tone.

Custom and personalised orders

Yes we do take custom orders. Please send us a message, or an email, with the details of your custom request. We can customise the dimensions of our existing products, or we can design something new to your request. Please include information regarding dimensions, finish option, quantity and any other design alterations. Please also include your post code so that we can quote your shipping costs as well.

International Shipping

Yes we do ship internationally. Please get in touch with us if you would like a quote for the shipping costs to your country.

General - do not leave spills to sit on surfaces. Avoid contact with heat, liquid, and take care when placing abrasive objects on the timber. Do not place your product in direct sunlight or in close proximity to air conditioning and heating ducts. Raw - use a dry cloth or duster to clean your product. To remove any marks or stains, lightly sand using 240grit sandpaper, moving in the direction of the grain, until the mark or stain is gone from the surface. We recommend not storing your piece in environments exposed to moisture. Satin - for light cleaning use a microfibre cloth with a small amount of warm water. For more stubborn stains you can use mild detergent with warm water. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaning products.

This picture ledge shelf is handcrafted out of Victorian Ash or American Oak timber and is perfect for many different areas of your home. The natural grain and colour will be a feature in itself and will bring style and sophistication to any space. You could use it to display photo frames, books, recipe books, plates, potted plants and other décor items.

We use sustainably-sourced Victorian Ash or American Oak; please see below for characteristics of this timber. It is very easy to install; please see directions below.

DIMENSIONS:

40cm, 60cm, 80cm or 100cm W x 9cm H x 12cm D (this includes 9cm of shelf space between the back of the shelf and the lip at the front).

PRODUCT INFORMATION:

The shelf can be purchased with two different finish types, Raw or Satin 2 Pack.

There are two different finish options available. Raw (as pictured), or Satin. If this shelf will be exposed to moisture, such as in a laundry or bathroom, we recommend the Satin finish. If selecting the Raw option, we are able to complete and send your order promptly. If you select a Satin finish, we require at least an additional week to ensure the best quality finish can be applied with several layers and dried sufficiently before packaging.

INSTALLATION:

We include screws and plaster/drywall/gyprock wall anchors to allow for easy attachment to any plastered wall surface. Using the wall anchors, we recommend each shelf to hold a maximum of 5kgs. If you are fixing this shelf to another type of wall surface, additional hardware may need to be purchased at your local hardware store. Please get in touch with us if you have any questions.

- Pencil
- Spirit Level

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Please note that all our timber is hand selected for each shelf, however as Australian Hardwood timber is a natural material it will vary in both colour and grain to the photos above. Features of Australian hardwood include fiddleback markings and visible gum veins. The timber may also range from a pale straw colour to a slight pink tone to a golden hue. As with all natural materials, Victorian Ash is affected by light and overtime the character and colour will change slightly. These natural features are a unique and beautiful characteristic of the timber. Please also keep in mind timber can expand and contract due to varying temperature and environmental conditions in your home.
