Hello, you are bidding on one of my handcrafted ivory guitar/mandolin picks. This was made by my Native Alaskan girlfriend & myself from pre-ban fossilized ivory, which was harvested by the Native islanders of the private lands on remote St. Lawrence Island in the Bering Sea. This ivory is not from an endangered species. This was collected in accordance with all prevailing laws both from the State of Alaska and all federal agencies, Dept. of Fish & Game, the Marine Mammal Protection Act and complies with CITES Convention and Customs laws and as such, this will only be shipped within the USA.

I’m sure that you’ve read about the use of both bone and/or ivory on guitar parts on different acoustic and electric instruments and the increased qualities as better sustain and richer harmonics. There are ivory nuts, saddles, bridge pins, etc., and while we don’t make these accessories, we’ve concentrated on our fossilized ivory guitar picks. Anyone can get bone parts, probably from a farm animal, but this ancient ivory is much richer in its qualities. This ancient ivory pick has better dynamics when you play an acoustic guitar, electric guitar or mandolin, due to its inherent hardness, density, age and durability.

These are virtually indestructible and will not break during normal or hard playing. A previous customer did keep his pick in his wallet, or did, and this pick did break because of weird pressures of sitting down all the time. So if you try to break it, it will break, but it won’t break during normal or hard playing. If you want richer overtones, richer harmonics and can appreciate increased speed and clarity along with better dynamics, then this pick is for you and/or your jamming friends.

The dimensions of this beveled and polished pick are:

Height: 1.373 in / 34.85 mm
Width: 1.373 in / 34.85 mm
Thickness: .085 in / 2.17 mm

I have been making these picks since 1990 and have sold many of these on ebay since 2000 and have many happy customers. Please read my feedback from 2000 to 2004. I got married in early 2005 and took a 3 year hiatus. The condition has been regarded as “works of art, excellent, etc.” Many players have said how nice these picks are and how enjoyable it is to play guitar again. This is extremely old ivory, stiff, smooth to feel, beveled, with fine finishes. Feels nice to hold & play with greatly improved aural qualities. It is thicker than plastic picks. Try one. You’ll like it. You won’t play with plastic again.

Shipping is $2.00 for anywhere in the USA for first class postage. Foreign sales prohibited. If you are from a foreign country, please visit Alaska, buy some handcrafted ivory and declare these items when you go through Customs. Thank you & keep on rockin’.
