This ring features a crystal of natural, uncut diamond from Arkansas. The stone weighs in at 0.25 carats measures 4.4 x 4.1 x 2.3 mm, and is set in a 10k white gold band with floral styling and a hummingbird.

Diamond is one of the most precious gemstones. From ancient times it was known as 'adamas', the hardest of all stones. Before it was possible to facet the stones they were valued for their beautiful natural crystals, which form in the shape of cubes or octahedrons. In addition to its high hardness, diamond also shows a metallic surface sheen known as 'adamantine luster' which adds to its natural beauty. Their formation is also unique, occurring at depths and pressures beyond normal conditions. They have to be brought up to the surface by rare magmas sourced from the mantle.

While the best-known diamonds mines are in Africa, Russia, Australia and Canada, diamonds are also found in a kimberlite pipe known as the Crater of Diamonds in Arkansas. I recently got a small parcel of Crater of Diamonds crystals, showing beautiful natural crystal form.

This crystal is truly beautiful. It is a bright cluster of brilliant, sparkling intergrown crystals with a platinum grey color. It catches the light and sparkles as it is turned, showing off its numerous crystal faces. This is a stunning, natural gemstone with a gorgeous appearance.
