Sapphires are one of the most precious gems. They have been valued from antiquity for their durability, brilliance and color. Though excellent stones come from such foreign locales as Burma and Ceylon, America's own Montana produces some of the finest. We found these particular stones ourselves at Gem Mountain in Philipsburg, Montana. That location is known for its fancy-colored sapphires, but it also produces quite a few beautiful blue stones like those selected for this piece. A central, fiery-red garnet, also from Montana, provides a striking contrast, making for a unique and eye-catching pendant. The pendant measures 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in length--the stones are all approximately 3 mm across.
Note that the sapphires have been heat treated to bring out their best color. This is a standard and accepted treatment for sapphire which does nothing to devalue the stone. No die or dopant is added to the stone in this process.
The item will be mailed in a priority mail flat-rate box to buyers in the US. Canadian and other international shipping is through US first class international mail.
