Listening to these guys I have to agree with the judges who awarded them the International Championship in the Barbershop Quartet competitions - they were absolutely great! You'll recognize some of these songs - maybe you'll even remember the Popcorn Song!

The liner notes are right to the point:

"Truly one of the All-Time Greats in Barbershopping, their humilty and modesty only add to their popularity, for as they themselves say: 'We consider our quartet as one of the richest in memories as a result of the personal contact with those wonderful and special people known as Barbershoppers.'

"The 1959 International Champions started their climb to the top by combining the talents of two quartets in the fall of 1954. Hailing from the 'Heart of the Ozarks' Chapter in Springfield,Missouri, the Pitchikers were officially organized in 1955 and quickly rose to the spot of Central States District Champions in 1956. They hit the International Medalist slot that same year and remained in the limelight to the peak of their career, achieving the top as International Champions in 1959."

On the back cover, from left to right the lads are: Keith Keltner, Keith Young, Ken Keltner and Joe Delzell.

It's a great bunch of songs that the lads sing... and, let me tell you - they are note perfect! It's A Cappella at it's best. It's one of the finest versions of "Stay as Sweet as You Are" that I've heard, and if the song "Little Child" doesn't move you .... my goodness, that's all I can say!

Barbershop Quartet at its Best - Great A Cappella Singing!

LET'S BUST OUT with the 4 PITCHIKERS

CONDITION -

We test-play all records to determine condition.

This is a used/previously played record with the following noted:

DISC - The disc has been played a lot as one might imagine - there are some light surface scuffs - there is considerable extraneous noise, including crackle and scattered tics and pops - but there are no stops nor skips that I noticed ... apart from this, however, the sound is solid and clear .. the lads come through clearly

COVER - Bright, clean and presentable with no splitting - a touch of surface rub - a previous owner's name signed neatly in ink on the rear of the cover

LINER - Clean paper liner
