This is an authentic blouse worn by the women of Tehuantepec/Juchitan Oaxaca.
As a strong matriarchal society the women are very social, attending many parties called Velas and changing out their elaborate gala outfits for new ones.
This is fortunate for you - as some of the more elaborate and older styles are being sold as collector items.
The sizing generally accommodates small short waisted women - although some of the women are very round and some are even tall but they all love to wear these blouses very tight. They can be adjusted by taking in the sides of the blouse as it is a simple straight seam and can be lengthened by added crochet to the bottom or another piece of cloth. Also they can be opened and made into hangings, pillows, etc.
This blouse is about 35 years old.
Chain stitched large embroidery flowers in an open pattern like a flower lei on matte black satin
Width: 20 3/4"
Length: 19 1/2"
These blouses are made to be adjustable so a young woman can wear it as she fills out....and they are adjusted many times.
The Mexican artist Frida Kahlo had a large collection of these blouses and wore them daily.
