Description

Sweet small Victorian photo album with a celluloid cover is chock full of surprises, including 12 die-cut Victorian calling cards and some old photos. The album, dating to about the 1880s to 1890s, is covered with a reddish brown velvet and has an illustration of a house, birds, and trees on its celluloid cover. A simple metal latch holds it together.

The album has 18 cardboard pages with paper frames in gray and gold. The Victorian calling cards are gorgeous little things that fit inside the frames. They feature poetry and bright illustrations of flowers, hands, and doves. All of the cards are still attached to name cards (you lift the colorful printed card to see the name of who left it), and there are also several name cards on their own, including one that is hand written in calligraphy.

Toward the back of the book is a page with 9 little photographs tucked in (one of them with multiple prints), and there's another page with a faded picture of two little boys on a printed cardboard piece, plus an old business card from a general store.

The book itself is in very good condition. Outside shows little wear, which is unusual with these old celluloid memory books. The celluloid has a little discoloration and fading but no cracks. The velvet is in very good condition. Inside, Some of the pages have tears on their frames, and some have been held together with tape, but the calling cards are in very good condition; the name cards have some discoloration. Please see photos.

Size: 4 inches wide x 5 inches tall x 1.25 inches deep
