The Newborn Pack comes with a bell rattle, small grasping beads, and an interlocking disc. It is the perfect "starter" pack for any parent and makes a wonderful gift.
A simple rattle that fits perfectly into the hand of an infant. In a world full of noise, this simple rattle is perfect as one of the first auditory materials to offer to an infant around 2 months. Most rattles are so big they end up looking like a bar bell when offered to an infant. This rattle fits perfectly into a young child's hand so that he/she can develop the hand for purposeful grasping. As the infant bats his/her arm and later purposefully shakes the material, the infant will be drawn to the sound as they produce their own music. The infant will begin to track the sound with his/her eyes, aiding in eye development.
It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to check this material each time you offer it to an infant and also to monitor the infant while using the bell rattle as if the bell was to come loose, it would be a choking hazard.
The grasping beads are to be offered to the infant around 3 months. The child will be attracted to the smooth, spherical wood and the leather cord. The natural materials make a wonderful teether and the beads will challenge the infant to further develop their grasping ability. It will also aid the infant's eye development by tracking this material as he/she swings it around and later aid the child to transfer the material from hand to hand.
It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to check this material each time you offer it to an infant and also to monitor the infant while using the small grasping beads as these beads would be a choking hazard if they were to come off the cord.
The interlocking discs should first be offered around 2-3 months while the infant still has the grasping reflex. This will aid the infant in developing voluntary grasping. As the infant swings the interlocking discs around, his/her eyes will begin to track the material, helping the infant with eye development. In a few months, the special design will help the infant begin to transfer the material from hand to hand. When placed on the floor, the interlocking discs will gently roll away, encouraging the infant to creep or roll towards it. The design of the material is so that it does not roll quickly or far away when the infant is not yet crawling. The interlocking discs are made with lightweight wood, non-toxic glue, and come with a olive oil finish.
