Description

This is a 1970s hardcover, dust-jacketed edition of the humorous classic "archy & mehitabel."

"This is the free verse of archy, the cockroach. Archy has the soul of a poet, and he cannot resist the temptation to express himself in verse, so every night he climbs on the boss's typewriter and jumps up and down on the keys." Mehitabel is his feline companion.

The book is written entirely in free verse with no capital letters (archy has difficulty with the caps key on the typewriter.) Beginning in 1916, author Don Marquis published the cockroach/cat adventures in his newspaper column "The Sun Dial." Geroge Herriman ((Krazy Kat) provided the playful pen and ink illustrations for the books.

CONDITION: Black square boards with gold illustration and titling. Corners mildly bumped. Mild wear to head and foot of spine. Previous owner's name in ink on reverse of front free end-paper and the dedication page. Unclipped dust-jacket (orig. price $4.95) has soiling and mild chipping at head and foot.

Please consult all photos in full frame mode. Thanks.

Ships USPS MEDIA MAIL (approx. 6-10 days) from Portland, Oregon.
