Our handmade vinegar crock is handcrafted in our pottery studio, here in Hutchinson, MN. It is the perfect vessel to brew your very own batch of vinegar.

Start crafting your own vinegar as your next DIY project. Vinegar has a wide array of uses, and homemade vinegar makes a wonderful gift. You could create a red and white wine set as a holiday gift this year.

Why not just buy vinegar you ask? Commercial manufacturers make it too fast and too cheap. Great wine vinegar coaxes out layers of flavor in cooking, "creating a more seductive dish"... according to cookbook author Paula Wolfert. We absolutely agree!!!

The Clay Coyote vinegar crock is designed to Paula's specifications, holding about 1/2 of a gallon, with the spigot a few inches above the bottom. Ultimately this space is for the residual 'mother' that forms. Of course, the crock could also be used for other liquids. Brew tea, serve lemonade, or a whip up a mixed cocktail.

Our crocks hold about 1/2 of a gallon (don’t have to fill it to start out) and feature an NSF approved plastic spigot. (We moved from wood to plastic in March 2008 because of problems getting good cork to hold the spigot.) The initial start up will take some 2-1/2 months, but from then on it can be used at any time. You’ll need a starter (we recommend Mark Larrow’s at http://www.beer-winemaking.com/ ) although others are available on the internet or your local beer/wine home-brewing store may carry them. With instructions. Shapes will vary from the picture as each is individually hand thrown and they are roughly 10-11" high- heights will vary.

This crock is shown in our JOE'S BLUES. You may also chose your Vinegar Crock to come in any of the other glazes we have shown. All of our pieces are handmade, and they vary in shape and color.

All of our pieces are food safe glazes. You can put our pieces in the microwave, dishwasher, and the oven.
