This native hardwood bottle stopper was handmade using a wood lathe and my own design. Myrtlewood grows as a native species in southern Oregon and northern California. It is a slow growing broadleaf evergreen than can take 80 –120 years to reach full size. It is a close relative to the Biblical myrtlewood tree that grows in the Holy Land. Myrtlewood varies widely in rich brown tones and grain depending on the growing conditions. I create the shape but Mother Nature creates the stunning color and grain of the wood so no two pieces are alike. Turning wood on a lathe to reveal what Mother Nature has created is like opening up a surprise package because you never know what an individual piece will look like!

This bottlestopper will make a very thoughtful gift or an elegant addition to your barware collection and it is sure to be a conversation piece at your next gathering. It is hand signed.

This bottle stopper measures 6” in length and is about 2-1/2” at the widest point. There are no stains applied, this is the natural color of the wood. I use an oil finish and polish it to a stunning satin gloss. The metal portion is stainless steel, which resists corroding and will retain its clean shine for many years to come. The metal portion can be rinsed under running water and the wood can be wiped clean with a soft cloth.
