"The Matador's Suit of Lights" - Original Oil & Acrylic Painting

Matadors are the traditional bull fighters in Spain and their uniform is known as the "Suit of Lights" because of its rhinestones, beads and gold or silver thread.

The basic model consists of form-fitting pants that reach midcalf, a vest, a short jacket, a thin tie, pink stockings and an elaborate cape. Each suit involves the handiwork of 20 to 50 people. The black matador hat is known as the montera.

The cost for each suit is between €1,800 and €4,000 and as much as €5,800 for the hat and cape - is so prohibitive that novice toreros, or bullfighters, are forced to buy the garments second hand. Each suit weighs about 14 pounds.

This is an oil and acrylic painting done on a 8x10 stretched canvas, with all sides painted black. No need to frame - ready to hang upon receipt.
Signed on both front and back of painting by me - the artist.

Frame NOT included.
