Crochet the Camargue shawl with this tutorial, a sideways shawl with discreet lace and a spectacular ruffled edging.
This crochet tutorial in PDF format includes instructions to make the shawl in 2 sizes.

“Camargue” is a triangular area of Provence in the south of France. With the Rhone delta and salt wetlands, it’s famous for its pink flamingos, white Camargue horses and black bulls. Its wild long beaches such as l’Espiguettte offer amazing sights and long beach walks.
When I went there on a mini-vacation, it resonated right away with my new shawl design: turquoise tones of the sea, beige for the fine sand dunes, and grey for the old stones from Aigues-mortes..

The Camargue shawl is crocheted sideways: first you make the body of shawl with an easy lace pattern every few rows (thoroughly explained with photo tutorial). Then the frilly lace edging is added along 2 sides of the triangle, with added picots.

Pattern is easy to customize with different weights of yarn: as explained in pattern, stop body of shawl whenever the length of shawl suits you. The added ruffle edging was designed especially to adapt to any chosen length.

Make the most of the beauty of Noro yarns (or any other self-striping or handpainted yarns) !

This crochet pattern was thoroughly tested to ensure it’s error-free and as clear as can be. Includes step-by-step photos and a photo-tutorial for the special stitch used for body of shawl.
