A breathtaking hand-coloured lithograph from the rare classic Schmetterlingsbuch by Karl Friedrich Berge, a German naturalist and entomologist. This is a highly collectible plate!

Printed and delicately hand-coloured in Germany in 1889. Hand-coloured lithographs are even more sought after than chromolithographs, which though painstakingly done, are coloured mechanically and not by hand.

This rare +120-year-old hand-coloured lithograph is in very good condition. It is blank on the back. Printed on cream-coloured paper, like cardstock. Frame and give as a very special gift.

This is a +120-year-old original collectible, not a reproduction! Bananastrudel sells only originals. A copy of the title page will be provided as proof of provenance. The Latin names of the butterflies will also be provided. The watermark does not appear on the plate.

Shipped to you flat, in an archival cello sleeve with sturdy backing.
