Description

Here is a special edition of The Hobbit produced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first publication. It has a special Introduction by Christopher Tolkien which includes previously unpublished illustrations by the author and the sole surviving page of the original draft of the first chapter. This is an illustrated edition with 2 maps (the endpapers) and 13 further illustrations 5 of which are full colour plates, all by JRR Tolkien.

Originally published in 1937, this edition by Guild Publishing of London was produced in 1987.

In excellent condition, the contents are clean and tightly bound with no writing. All the pages, plates and illustrations remain lovely.

Dark green boards have been well protected by the dust jacket and the gilt lettering remains sparkly bright.

The illustrated colour dust jacket (unclipped) is a reproduction of the 1st edition copy. Has just some slight indentation marks, mostly only visible upon being held up to the light. The colours and the spine remain completely un-faded and the overall appearance of this volume is super.

One for the collector's, your special edition copy of The Hobbit will arrive wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon.

H 23 cm x W 15 cm, 256 pages, 0.54 kg. I dispatch worldwide daily from the UK. (With the exception of a small number of countries).

Royal Mail Airmail is a very reliable service but please note their delivery window before an item is considered undelivered is 20 working days for Europe and 25 working days for the rest of the world.
