PDF Sewing Pattern Victoria 1830s Romantic Era Dress Evening Gown for 18 inch dolls such as American Girl

A gown for your Queen Victoria...

This pattern is for a Romantic Era (1830s) evening gown. It is quite a lacy confection! The bodice is constructed of six pieces for a very tailored fit. The sleeves are puffed and large like those from the period and covered with a lace overlay. At the neck and sleeves are lace ruffles, and the skirt is covered with lace as well. For an authentic period look, I recommend a silk for this dress if you plan to do the lace overlays. However, omitting the overlays and using a cotton or linen would look beautiful as well!

Suggested Fabrics: Silk, satin, cotton, linen. Not suitable for heavy fabrics or knits.

Notions: three small snaps, matching thread, 1 yd of 3/8” wide ribbon, 1 and 1/3 yd of 1 ¼” wide lace, 1 ¾ yd of lace that is at least 9” wide (wider trim can be cut to size), 3-5 small silk flowers

Fabric: 1 yard 45” wide fabric for dress, 1/4 yd 45” wide fabric for lining
