Our "Tayberry & Teak" cold process soap is a very complex fragrance combination. It starts with base notes of bamboo and teakwood. Middle notes of tayberries, blackberries, mulberries, cloudberries, and peaches combine with subtle hints of sweetgrass and red clover. This fragrance is very fruity and feminine with a sophisticated twist.

What is a tayberry, you ask? A tayberry is a cross between a loganberry and a black raspberry. The fuscia colored fruit is used in making jams and jellies and other delicious desserts.

"Tayberry & Teak" soap is made with our new Palm oil FREE recipe! Skin-loving coconut, olive, and canola oils are combined with creamy cocoa butter and shea butter. Castor oil makes the bubbles big, luxurious and never-ending. This soap will not leave your skin feeling dry.

Because of high demand, we are unable to accept new wholesale customers at this time. Sorry about that!
Handmade soaps take a little extra care than commercially produced soaps do. Handmade soap bars will last longer if they are kept out of standing or running water. They should be kept on a grooved soap dish with draining holes that allows water to drain away. They should also be allowed to dry between uses.

Handmade soaps tend to be softer than their "grocery store" counterparts. Even though our handmade soaps are made with "hardening" oils that create a longer lasting handmade soap, they do not last quite as long as mass produced soaps which are made with drying and hardening additives. One bar of our soap can last a family of four about 3-4 weeks, but it will vary greatly on how often it is used and how it is stored between uses.

The type of soap Grandma made is called “cold process” soap. It is made by combining oils and/or fats with sodium hydroxide (lye). The chemical reaction that is created from combining the oils and/or fats with the sodium hydroxide is called “saponifaction.” During saponification, the oils and sodium hydroxide mix and become soap. The entire process from mixing to curing takes 4 to 6 weeks. Cold process soap is known for its luxurious quality and wonderful moisturizing properties. The types of oils, additives (such as herbs, exfoliants, etc.) and butters used in the process determine the kind of properties the soap will have.
Soap that you buy in the grocery store pales in comparison to handmade soap. It is a massed produced product made in huge batches (we're talking 250,000 pounds or more) where the skin-loving glycerin is removed and fillers are added. They are often full of chemicals and synthetic detergents which can dry out your skin. When we make our handmade soaps we make them in small batches to insure that the quality of our soaps remains high. Also, all of the skin-loving glycerin remains in the soap. This makes a very gentle, moisture rich bar of soap.

Next time you reach for that bar of grocery store soap, turn it over and read the label. If you can't pronounce the ingredients and don't know what they are, do you want to use it on your skin?
Our handmade soaps are made with the finest oils, butters, and ingredients. These high quality ingredients (i.e. cocoa butter, shea butter, olive oil, etc.) are very expensive to purchase individually. Making our soap is also a very labor intensive process. All of our small batches are measured, mixed, scented, poured, and cut by hand. When we say our soap is "handmade", we really mean it! Our soaps have to cure for about a month before they can be wrapped and sold. Each and every batch is then tested by our family (not on animals) before we sell it. That means that a lot of time goes into our soaps. And, because you are getting a product made with the love and attention that we give each batch, you know that you are getting the very best.
If you don't plan on using the soaps right away or are giving them as gifts, you should store them in a cool, dry, dark place to help preserve the fragrance (a clothes drawer works nicely and makes your clothes smell great, too).

As tempting as it is to keep your beautifully wrapped soaps laying around, we encourage you to use your soaps in the shower or bath. The true beauty and fragrance of your soap comes alive when the warm water hits it and you lather it up. Your skin will thank you!
All of our soaps are hand-mixed, hand-poured, hand-cut, and hand-wrapped. They do vary slightly by size and weight because of the nature of making handmade soaps. We believe that the "handmade" look of our soaps adds to the unique character of our products. We sell our handmade soaps by weight, not size. All of our soaps will weigh between 5 to 5.5+ ounces and approximately 3-1/2" wide x 3-1/4" high x 1" thick (unless otherwise noted in the listing). You may receive two soaps that are a little different in size, but we guarantee that every bar weighs at least 5 ounces (but usually much more).
Since our soaps have to cure for at least 5 weeks before they can be sold, we always have soaps on our curing racks. Here are the soaps that are curing right now:
