Industrial look Ink Pens 24k Gold Plating
Few metals capture the heart like gold. A traditional choice for all types of pens, gold is the most easily worked of all metals because it is naturally very soft and malleable.
However, to create pen plating’s that are strong and durable, pure gold is alloyed with other metals such as copper and zinc, which strengthen it and gives it its color. Gold pen plating is consistently timeless and so elegant.
24kt gold fittings offer a bright pure gold plating that will give your pen a rich and luxurious look. Our 24kt gold uses a "premium rack plating" process and is covered with an epoxy coating for extreme durability.

Industrial look Ink Pens Curly Koa
Koa wood is famous in Hawaii for many reasons, one being its decorative array of colors and grain texture. Curly, Fire, and Tiger Koa are the rarest, each displaying unique characteristics resembling their given names. The different colors of Koa wood are influenced by the tree’s age, the type of soil, and level of elevation that the tree grows in. Koa hues range from light golden blonde, to deep auburn red, to dark chocolate brown. The darker grain patterns add horizontal and vertical texture and it is the color and striping that creates the chatoyant three-dimensional appearance found only in Koa wood.

Curly Koa is named for its burl and swirly grain patterns showcased as playful spots and stripes with wavy figuring woven throughout the dark and light base wood. Curly Koa is found in only 1% of Koa trees as the wood grain is generally straight. The highest grades of wood are determined by the amount of curl that decorates the surface which is why Curly Koa’s high value is known worldwide.

Ink Pen Crafting Process
The Spartan ink pen is constructed first by hand selecting each piece and then cutting, drilling and turning the pen to its final shape on a lathe. The pen is then sanded 7 times with progressively finer grits (150, 220, 320, 400, 600, and 800) of sandpaper, to achieve a very smooth surface and a diameter tolerance of .001 - .002 in, for a smooth transition with the metal parts. Wood pens then have 10 coats of finish applied and the ink pen is sanded again 9 times with sandpaper to 12,000 grits to a high shine or satin finish. Acrylic and Tru-Stone pens are sanded 9 times with sandpaper to 12,000 grits for a high shine and then a polish is added.

FAQs

I handcraft all the pens on this website. No two handmade items are exactly alike. Variations in color, shading, texture, shape and grain are inherent in a handmade item. No two items are alike, so that every single one is one-of-a-kind. This means that every handmade item you purchase is also one-of-a-kind. What’s not to like about that?
All of our wood products are purchased through legally licensed providers that provide exotic woods from sustainable forest product areas.
All of our pen pricing is based on the price of the materials involved in the making of the pen. You may see two pens that are the same style but priced differently. The price of the finishes plus the cost of the Woods or Acrylic affect the pricing. Chrome plating while durable is less expensive than say Antique Pewter. A more common wood is cheaper than a rare exotic such as Burl. All pens are not created equal. The time involved for the final steps of sanding and sizing for an exact fit are the most important. My pens may at first seem a little more expensive but the finished quality of fit and finish are very high and require more time and skill to complete. I redo and dis-guard pens and parts all the time that do not meet my standards.
Yes, all of our pens are one of a kind, no large production. When a pen is purchased, the item page changes to out of stock because it is the only one there is.
If you see a pen you like, let me know, I will give you a price, and estimated ship date. Please note that although the pen I make will be similar there will be slight changes in color and grain as each wood or acrylic piece is unique
Yes, you can, if you see a pen style you like and a wood or acrylic you like on another pen let us know and we will give you a price, and estimated ship date
We currently only sell and ship to the 48 continental USA states and Canada by USPS.
We accept returns for 14 days from the date you receive your order. We do not pay for return shipping unless the pen is defective.
Every ballpoint and rollerball pen I sell uses standard Cross or Parker refills. The fountain pens use Waterman Style, and all are available at office supply and stationery stores worldwide. I also carry some refills on this website.
Yes I do, any upcoming shows will be found on my homepage under announcements. I currently am only doing shows in Massachusetts.
