Description

These gorgeous towels were inspired by a rep weave rug I saw in Handwoven magazine several years ago. With a profile draft as the springboard for design I manipulated the blocks in both warp and weft to fit the format of a towel. The op art undulations reminded me of ever-changing tide pools that are seen at low tide along the southern California coast where I live. One thing I find fascinating about the ocean is the way the color of the water seems to shift and change depending on the season, the time of day, and the weather. Those changes are reflected in this set of towels resulting in a set of richly colored towels that remind me of the Pacific Ocean.

I loved weaving the towels and discovering how the interaction of the color combinations in both warp and weft impacted the cloth. I think you'll love weaving them, too!
