This is a beautiful complete set of 12 French Opera Plates.

They are marked PV which stands for Peasant Village, a key manufacturer for a 1940s importer named Mitteldorfer Strauss, of New York who specialized in copying European designs in the states.

The original designs were made in France in the later part of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.

Each plate has a painted scene and music from the opera it represents.

The plates are numbered 1 to 12 and have an artist's signature below the music scroll.

The plates measure 6 1/4" across and have a green and gold band at the edges.

These plates are in amazingly good condition considering their age. Some of the plates show some wear to the gold band, however.
