Beautiful cream striped wool early 20th century men's trousers. I can’t be specific as to date but they are from the first quarter of the 20th century. I used them once many years ago in a play on a very slender young actor in a Victorian musical and have kept them packed in acid-free tissue in a box for the last 15 years, but they do have some moth damage and stains that happened before I had them cleaned and stored away.

The color in reality is yellower than the pictures indicate, which were taken in daylight by a window.

Flat-front pants, with two small waist pockets and tabs, side pockets and rear pockets. Button-fly front. Good heavy crease.

They are still wearable and reparable, but perhaps they are best used for research in a costume or museum library. I am loathe to part with them, but I can no longer house most of my vintage clothing collection and hope that they will find a worthy home. You can take a pattern off of them and they show some delightful tailoring details.

These are summer weight trousers, despite the heaviness of the wool, which is of excellent quality, with its sweet pale blue stripe. You can see in the pictures the moth hole damage and that the front fly closure is missing it hook and that there is discoloration, probably rust stains from the missing hook. There are former hem lines that have been steamed out, but are still visible. The pants are lined in cream cotton satin, and the suspender and fly buttons that I sewed on so may years ago are still secure. They were purchased in a vintage clothing store, long gone, near the 59th Street Bridge in Manhattan in the 1970s.
