Item details

Handmade

Materials

chalcedony drusy, swarovski crystal, sterling silver, tube bail

This pendant looks like the blue sky - it is a soft powder blue and the tiny quartz crystals of the drusy shine. It is just precious! Like the sky, the stone looks a little like it is glowing and it has been dyed. The Swarovski crystal enhances the color of this delicate-looking piece.

All findings are sterling silver.

The pendant is about 1 and 1/2 inches long
and the stone is about 7/8 of an inch at its widest point

Chalcedony is a very fine-grained variety of the silica mineral quartz. Chalcedony occurs in many varieties and colors. Chalcedony is an all-inclusive term that includes many well-known varieties, such as agate, onyx, bloodstone, carnelian, chrysoprase, and jasper. There are MANY other names to other stones made up wholly or largely of chalcedony. Commonly, only the translucent, single white or lightly colored stones are sold as "chalcedony". Light-colored chalcedony can be dyed just about any color.

Drusy refers to tiny quartz crystals that form within or on the surface of other stones. This drusy has had a special color treatment or metal process to create a gorgeous metallic iridescence.

Swarovski crystal - is the world-leader in precision cut crystal and is known for their superior quality. However, like most Austrian crystals, they contain lead. This is a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. This product is not intended for use by children under the age of 12. Lead is used because it refracts light and sparkles with more brilliance than regular glass. Swarovski, as well as other crystal manufacturers, claim that lead crystal poses no significant risk of excessive lead exposure to human health via surface contact (hand to mouth), mouthing or even ingestion. Swarovski maintains that their crystals have been tested under a variety of test methods for extractable lead. Lead levels are well below regulatory limits.
