Description

A classic ca. 1930s platinum solitaire ring with a dazzling 1.47 carat transitional cut diamond framed by tapered baguettes. Although this diamond was graded by GIA (report # 2181624679) as "round brilliant," it displays two of the three defining criteria of transitional cut diamonds - including a darling, medium culet! -and is very close to meeting the third. We believe that this diamond was cut between 1920 and 1940, in the years when the trade was moving toward the modern round brilliant cut but not reliably cutting to those standards. This diamond dances with an agile light: pinpoint "prickles" of brilliance flash across the face of the gemstone with every movement of the hand. It is set in a round, base style head with four tapered prongs. Baguette diamonds hover at the shoulders, lifted just slightly above the shank. At just under 1.50 carats, the primary diamond can't be missed. Pairs beautifully with antique, vintage, or contemporary wedding bands. I DOOOOO!!!!

Note: This ring comes with a complimentary appraisal for insurance/replacement for $12,800.

Measurements: Size 6 1/4 US, 3.9 grams total weight. 7mm rise from finger.
Diamond details: GIA Report # 2181624679, (1) 1.47 carat round brilliant (with characteristics of transitional cuts), I / VS2, 7.60-7.70 x 4.28mm. And (2) tapered baguette diamonds, .15 carat total weight, F/G, VS
