This necklace is distinct, clean and to-the-point visually. The two cabochons are Chrysoprase and fossilized dinosaur bone. Poland had the most prominent Chrysoprase mine before it was completely depleted in the 14th century. Today, much of the world's Chrysoprase comes mostly from Western Australia, but also is found in Germany, Russia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Tanzania, India, Kazakhstan, Madagascar, Brazil and the states of Arizona, California and Oregon. The term fossilized is important. It is not the dinosaur bones themselves that paleontologists find, but their stony replicas. Fossil bones are created by the slow replacement of bone molecules with the molecules of minerals in ground water. Sarah artfully chose these two cabochons, which complement each other in shape and color. I made a setting out of 24 gauge sterling plate and scalloped silver wire made the hanger with a 1/8" silver tube cut at 20 degrees and soldered together. The sterling silver clasp has a double hook and round loop for its closure for easy installation around the neck. The sterling silver spacer beads and the larger diamond shaped sterling beads repeat the flashy sterling silver of the centerpiece. The beads inc the necklace pull out the grays, black, and greens with varying color values. These beads include Czech glass, cultured pearls, green Aventurine, snowflake Obsidian, and gray lace agate. The necklace is 21 inches in length, and the pendant is 2 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide. The available earrings include gray lace agate, sterling, and green Aventurine with a drop of 1 1/8 inches. This is very elegant looking for any occasion, and great with a wide variety of colors in clothing.
