Famous Hippie Janis Joplin in a word art typography calligram pen and ink portrait illustration by Joni James. Psychedelic 60's all over again!
Janis Lyn Joplin (January 19, 1943 – October 4, 1970) was an American singer, songwriter and music arranger. Janis was born in Port Arthur Texas.

On doing some research on Janis I found this quote to describe her quite well;

"the most staggering leading woman in rock... she slinks like tar, scowls like war... clutching the knees of a final stanza, begging it not to leave... Janis Joplin can sing the chic off any listener." richard goldstein (vogue)

These calligram illustrations are printed from my original hand drawings. No computer aids used.

Materials: Epson Ultra Premium Luster Paper & Claria Hi-Def Archival inks for a high quality product.

Acid free 8x10 double matted and signed. BLACK or Ivory mat choices

Approx. Image size: 5x7

Safely packaged in plastic sleeve with rigid backing.
