Original, beautifully detailed and coloured antique chromolithograph showing the greater coat of arms of the German Emperor, Crown of the Empress and heraldic flags of Wilhelm II, German Emperor and Empress Frederick ( Victoria, Princess Royal).

The eagle is used in heraldry as a charge, as a supporter, and as a crest. Parts of the eagle's body such as its head, wings or leg are also used as a charge or crest. The eagle symbolized strength, courage, farsightedness and immortality. It is considered to be the king of the air and the messenger of the highest Gods. Mythologically, it is connected by the Greeks with the God Zeus, by the Romans with Jupiter, by the Germanic tribes with Odin and by Christians with God.
The Reichsadler (Empire's Eagle, or Eagle of the Empire) was a historic eagle national insignia deriving from the heraldic Roman Aquila during various times of Germany's history, including the German Empire, the Weimar Republic.
In heraldry, an heraldic flag is any of several types of flags, containing coats of arms, heraldic badges, or other devices, used for personal identification.Heraldic flags include banners, standards, pennons and their variants, gonfalons, guidons, and pinsels.

The size of the print: 9,6" x 6,3" (24,5 x 16 cm) including its border.
Printed in 1903, Germany as an illustration for "Brockhaus' Lexikon".

The print is in good condition and the paper shows its age with a creamy patina, perfect for framing.

Concerning the age of the paper - cca. 110 years - some spots can be occured on the margin and the reverse side, but these do not effect the quality of the lithograph itself as it can be seen on the scan.

Please note, that by antique prints due to their age some imperfections are to be expected.
