This is a used vintage cast iron Universal #72 meat grinder is made to clamp onto a counter or table for use. All parts are in working order. A bracket, some pins, and an extra cutting blade are included. This meat grinder is compromised of the body, the handle, auger shaft, retainer ring and two cutters. The feeding reservoir splits open to allow placement of a disk serving as a retainer and stationary cutter base locked in place when the reservoir is closed. The cutting blade screws onto that and a heavy wing nut holds it in place.

These are usually manufactured by the Landers, Frary & Clark Co. in New Britain, Connecticut. There are no markings on this except Universal 72 on the body and Made in the USA on the handle. Based on research, this seems to date back to the 1897-1920 era, however there is no mark.

This kitchen tool was found at an estate sale,is well used and mechanically sound. It is in good condition and even contains dirt from use & storage. It is 11" long x 7" wide. Weight is almost 5 lbs.

This is a must for any vintage kitchenware collection. The best part is that it even still works if you want to see what it was like “back in the day” to chop or grind your own meat instead of buying it already processed.
