These adorable mini tote bags with appliqués are fun and easy to make! There are eight designs – a monkey, sheep, bear, giraffe, zebra, beetle, bumble bee and ladybug. The finished tote bags are 6” tall x 7” wide. Handles are made from 1” ribbon. All the critters have the same body/muzzle appliqué shape. Button antennae/horns plus fabric yo-yos are stitched onto the bags to create different critters. The appliqué designs can be reduced or enlarged to any size. Besides the tote bags, you can appliqué the designs on t-shirts, onesies, quilt blocks, bibs, etc. Instructions are given to sew a machine straight stitch around the appliqué designs. Other options would be to sew a machine zig-zag or satin stitch around the edges. If you don’t have a sewing machine, you can embroider the blanket stitch by hand around the edges of the appliqué pieces. A diagram is included in the instructions to hand embroider French knots for eye dots. Instructions to make yo-yos are also included.
