Description

There is nothing like having a hot cup of tea first thing in the morning out of your favorite cup. I hope each of my drinking vessels become a favorite to someone. The one that you’ll wash out by hand even if every other cup in the cupboard is clean. They are my very favorite pieces to make. In part because I know they will spend more time being held in someone’s hands than any other piece of pottery.

This tea bowl is thrown on the wheel with b-clay stoneware and fired to cone 10 (2350°). It is fired to cone 10 (2350°) in the soda kiln. In a soda firing, baking soda and soda ash is introduced into the kiln near the end of the firing. The soda vaporizes and is carried on the flames throughout the kiln. When it lands on a pot, it creates a glaze on the surface. It creates an earthy, one of a kind finish. The crackled surface and variations are part of the uniqueness of this piece!

➤ ➤ ➤ As always, lead-free. Dishwasher and microwave safe. Although it would be happiest being hand washed.

➤ ➤ ➤ Approximately 4.5” tall and 3.5” wide at top. It holds a generous 14 ounces.

☼ Please note that I try to capture the color of each piece as accurately as possible, but due to differences in screen calibrations, it might be slightly different in person than in the photo. ☼

FAQs

Custom orders usually take 6-8 weeks to complete. Most of my work goes through 3 firings. In order for a kiln to fire evenly, it must be full. So I not only have to finish your custom order, but an entire kiln load of work X3! Sometimes the timing will work out for it to be a little faster. Just reach out and see where I am at.
All my pieces are labeled with relevant sizing in the body of the listing. Mugs, soap dispensers and honey pots all have volume included, for example. And soap dispensers also have the width of the base and width at the widest point so you can check to see if it will fit on your counter or sink.
My pottery is lead-free, food safe and microwave and dishwasher safe*. Handmade pottery is happiest when hand-washed, but it can go in the dishwasher.

However, if there is an addition, like a soap pump, please hand wash and do not put in microwave!

For soap dispensers:
For maintenance: wipe clean with damp cloth periodically to avoid build-up. When you are refilling your dispenser, please pump some warm water through pump (especially the foaming soap dispenser). This is particularly important if you are using handmade soap.
I do not offer gift wrapping. It's hard to gift wrap and send pottery securely in the mail. But I am more than happy to include a personal note for any gifts. Just include it in the notes for your order. I do not include ordering/ pricing information so that will not be revealed to your gift recipient.
Please contact me directly if you are interested in wholesale. I do occasionally wholesale, but with limited items from my inventory. I prefer local locations because shipping can be prohibitive with fragile pottery!
