The centerpiece of this necklace is a symmetrical shield of lovely Australian Chrysoprase, with a fabulous semi-transparent ocean green hue, set into sterling silver. Chrysoprase is an apple-green variety of chalcedony containing nickel. The best known sources are from Queensland and Western Australia, but it is also located in Tanzania, Germany, Poland, Russia, Brazil, Arizona, and California. This cabochon has a beautiful gemmy quality, with feathery inclusions of the brownish matrix, enhancing the feel of an underwater scene. I set the stone with a sterling silver scalloped bezel, and backed with 24 gauge sterling sheet. The hanger is coiled half round sterling, with an opening for Sarah to run beads through. The colors of the beads pull out the sea greens and the bronze brown of the centerpiece, plus use additional paler and deeper greens and bronze colors. These beads include Canadian jade claw drops and beads, cultured pearls, pyrite square discs and natural pyrite crystals, Bronzeite, green Aventurine, green Fluorite, Kambaba agate, and Czech glass. There are multiple sterling silver spacer beads, and larger textured diamond disc accent beads to add to the silver sparkle of the piece. The flashy hook and loop style clasp is also sterling silver. This necklace is 21 inches in length, and the centerpiece is 1 3/8 inches high, by 1 5/8 inches wide. This is an elegant piece, and will go well with a variety of colors in clothing. It is sure to be an eye-catcher!
