Antique Staffordshire Poodle, Late Victorian Era, Poodle Holding Bird in Mouth, White Poodle, Antique Poodle Figurine

Exceptional late 1800s Antique Staffordshire Poodle. This Victorian Era Poodle is holding onto a white bird with gold trim. Hand Painted, sitting on a platform, there are no chips or cracks. This handsome piece has lived the good life. Made of English porcelain. These Staffordshire figures of this time period were unmarked, as is this one on it's concave base.

EARLY and MID VICTORIAN - Circa 1837 to 1875
Distinguishing Features: Characteristic blue tinge to the white lead glaze; decorated front only from circa 1845; concave bases; no makers marks; old dull gilt. 99% of figures in this period were made by a host of unknown potters, their wares unmarked.

There are a few signs of rubbing on the dull gold gilt around the platform, as to be expected due to the age of this wonderful piece. He will be waiting in my china cabinet for his forever home ! Measures 4 inches by 3 1/4 inches by 2 inches.
