I'm sure that at some point, if you've ever played with a Skewb, you've tried to swap 2 corners, as shown in this post. I definitely have, and I've talked to a few other people that have thought of this too. So I decided to attempt at making this puzzle. And it works very well :) I'd like to present my Weird Skewb
My friend John (quicksolver) took this puzzle with him to IPP back in August, and many people seemed to like it. I've gotten 2nd hand comments about the puzzle so far. Thank you for that :)
I think most of what I wanted to say about the puzzle was said in the video. The only thing I should mention is that the corners have a tendency to rotate in place. Not by much, maybe just a few degrees in either direction, but it has the possibility of blocking your turn if you don't notice. I didn't show that in the video. This is a result of how the mechanism works.
Imagine taking one 2x2 corner segment of my ComboCopter Plus puzzle (but without the "plus" part), and then covering up the whole thing with an outer corner. This outer corner would be connected to the new Curvy Copter corner, and could thus exchange places with the other corner. This is essentially how I made the Weird Skewb. This is a ComboCopter, but with a Skewb instead of a 2x2. I hope that makes sense at all
Why are the faces circles? I went into detail about that in the thread linked at the top of this post. This is the way to make room for the rotating corners that loses the least amount of material. I quite like the look! :) I added super stickers because this puzzle would be incredibly easy otherwise.
