What a great combination! A beautiful antique lithograph print of a beaver, set in a frame made from beaver-chewed sticks.

The print is a 1956 color lithograph book plate with a charming portrait of a beaver next to some of its handiwork. This image is described as showing a Eurasian beaver (Castor fiber), though this species is almost identical in appearance to the North American beaver (Castor canadensis). I haven't been able to determine the name of the artist of this print.

The frame was created by me, using beaver-chewed sticks gathered from around my home in rural Massachusetts. The sticks forming each side of the frame are chewed through at one end by beavers, and the other end I have meticulously fitted to its right-angle partner. A semi-gloss lacquer finish highlights the texture of the bark and the facets left by the beaver's teeth at the branch ends. You can read more about my process for making frames like this one on the Etsy page for one of my 8" x 10" beaver-stick picture frames.

The print is framed with a dark brown mat to accentuate the beaver's fur in the image. The mat and backing board are acid free, and the front glass is non-glare acrylic that is UV-protective to prevent fading of the print. The frame has hanging wire installed and is ready to put on a wall.

The artwork image is 5-1/2" by 7" (14 x 17.5 cm), the outer dimensions of the mat are 9" by 10-1/2" (23 x 26.5 cm), and the maximum outer dimensions of the frame are about 15-1/2" by 16-1/2" (39 x 42 cm).

This framed picture will be an absolute delight to anyone who loves nature and wildlife.
