English Bridle, Full Grain Leather, Ritza Thread, Oak Bark Bridle

Our Oak Bark Bridle leather Bifold is a minimalist two pocket bifold wallet made from J & FJ Bakers Oak Bark tanned bridle leather. The historic J&FK Bakers in England is the last remaining Oak Bark tannery in England, and has been in operation for over 600 years. Oak Bark leather is tanned for 12 months in pits full of ground up English oak bark and local river water; a very slow and gentle process that creates a leather that is hard wearing with a high tensile strength. After tanning for a full year, the leather undergoes a number of hand finishing processes designed to smooth the grain and nourish the leather.

During these final steps of the currying process, the leather is hand stained and finished by master craftsman in a series of steps that can take up to an additional 2 months. These master craftsman, called "Curriers", are skilled artisans using techniques and knowledge passed down generation to generation. As part of the finishing process, the master curriers apply a liberal coating of Dubbin, a mixture of mutton tallow, fish oil, and wax to nourish and protect the leather during shipping. This gives the bridle leather the classic white streaks on the surface. This waxy finish will fade with use as your body heats the leather and the dubbin. Once complete, the leather is shipping to our shop where the Oak Bark leather is all hand cut and hand sewn.
This front pocket bi fold with two pockets for credit cards or business cards. Each pocket can easily hold 3 credit cards cards right from the start and can stretch to fit cards over time. Or you can put cash in it. Or receipts. Whatever you want to shove into it.

Hand sewn with London Tan Oak Bark Bridle Leather and Colonial Tan Ritza Tiger Thread.

Due to the nature of full grain leather, there may be bug bites, scratches, scrapes, and/or fat wrinkles. These are not material defects. Carmine Jack Leather Company views these variations in the leathers as badges of honor and celebrates the uniqueness that this provides every leather item we produce. As a result of the of hand stained finish on our J&FJ Bakers oak bark tanned bridle leather, the color can vary from item to item and could even vary throughout the item itself simply because it’s all colored by hand. We do not view these as negative marks against the materials being used and do not consider them to be grounds for a Craftsmanship Guarantee return. Such imperfections will not affect the strength and durability of the leather. These variations are what sets your Oak Bark tanned leather wallet apart from any other wallet.

Actual color of the leather may vary due to factors outside of our control such the color settings on your monitor or mobile device.
