~Adaptive reuse has always been an intriguing facet of the design process. Progressive redesign and recycling efforts not only lessen the amount of materials ending up in landfills, but bring awareness to the design profession in a profound and holistic way. The life expectancy of a product can ultimately become circular in design through REDUX~
~Clementine adapts these principles in a degree of sustainable efforts. The cushions are made up of 60% soy-based Koosh foam made right in Toronto while the fabric is made of polyester and eco blends. The exterior paint is Benjamin Moore’s Aura Low VOC paint which meets very stringent “green” paint standards. Adopting natural materials for a design is one element but certainly not the only key player. Supporting Toronto's local Princess Perfect upholsterer and foam services within walking and biking distance becomes an even greater part of the design equation; one that can resolve the problems of careless waste and minimizing our ecological footprint, all in the comfort of a cast iron bathtub~
~Additional original accessories can be added to a piece such as original brass plumbing fixtures, facets, drains and plumbing to authentically preserve it's 'tub like' appeal~
