Item details

Handmade

Perennial - Zones 5 to 9

* Seeds per package - 10
* Bloom Time - June - July
* Bloom Color - Pink-purple
* Size - 24-36” x 18-24”
* Culture - Full sun, dry to medium moisture. Typically begins blooming its second summer. May self sow when conditions suit it. Cutting the plants back after bloom helps neaten the foliage, but it's also nice to have other plants for camouflage.
* Characteristics - The hooded, tubular flowers are reminiscent of bunches of grapes.
* Special Features - The dried flower stems (verticillasters) are incredibly prickly but are nice for adding height and interest to dried flower arrangements.
* Germination - Seeds germinate most readily right after they’re harvested. Sow ¼” to ½” deep in moist potting mix, and leave at room temps of 60-70°F. If no germination after 3-4 weeks, refrigerate 3-4 weeks, then move back to room temperature for germination.
