Hand cast bronze Ginkgo leaves, each slightly different. One leaf has a tiny, 2.2mm x 3.4mm, solid 18k yellow gold hand carved Japanese Beetle riveted to it. The bronze leaves measure 7/8" wide and have a very nice mottled green patina, and they hang from solid 18k yellow gold ear wires.

Each time I make these they have silght variations in the patina, and the location of the insect may be different. This makes each pair one of a kind.

The patina is achieved by exposing the bronze leaf to cupric nitrate, the result is a green color on the surface of the metal. Once the desired color is attained, the leaf is sealed with two coats of clear matt lacquer. The earrings require no maintenance, however, they should not be exposed to liquids and should be removed when swimming and bathing, never put them into any commercial liquid jewelry cleaners which can damage or remove the patina. To clean, wipe all surfaces with a soft, dry clean cloth.

Each earring is signed P.Irla, 18k, and copyright.
