An homage to the book, this embroidered handmade paper invokes the page from a long lost and forgotten book. As if torn from an ancient tome, its tattered stitching a reminder of language lost, yet it carries the history of its own travel through time.

This piece started out life as a much larger drawing some time ago, which was torn down into pieces. Once I saw certain fragments of the drawing, I knew that they were book pages, with the lines of tattered stitching evoking a lost text. The piece is created on handmade (homemade) paper, painted with layers of acrylic and then dipped in beeswax. I have taken out some of the original stitching, leaving this fragment with an aged and tattered feeling. Other lines of "text" have been added to the piece, along with the collaged bits of another drawing at the top and bottom. Everything is hand-sewn.

Artwork measures approximately 6" x 4" and will arrive carefully wrapped, ready for you to frame as you desire.
