8 1/2" White Oak Display Bowl
8 1/2" White Oak Display Bowl
Looking at this bowl makes me think back to the saloons in the west back in the 1800’s. The saloons were in the habit of having either salted peanuts or potato chips in bowls on the bar for the paying customers. From what I have read both were loaded with salt for two reasons. First is the salt was used to help preserve the goodies and also the salt made the customers thirstier so they drank more. What a concept! I just picture a bowl like this used for that. This bowl has the usual characteristics I find in this wood. Minor cracks throughout and some beautiful warm coloring. This bowl does not hold liquids. You may put whatever else you desire in it as long as it is more of a solid. Like nuts, candy, fruits, and even popcorn. Lots of uses for a bowl like this. The diameter is 8 ½” with a height of 3” and a depth of 2 ¼”. The volume measured to be 4 cups. The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and finished with a walnut oil/shellac mixture. This combination gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting natural finish. 6Mar19 BLWO18 Shipping cost listed for within Continental United States only. I now have 3 gorgeous bowls from Dave- one trench bowl, one pedestal, and this lovely cedar bowl. His work is impeccable! He also is so willing to take the time in communicating to ensure that his customers are completely satisfied with the finished product. His is my favorite Etsy shop. I will definitely purchase more from him in the future. You cannot go wrong with Dave!
Spalted Pecan is such a pretty wood, and Dave turned this piece into a gorgeous bowl. The good news is that he has many others to pick from, if you happen to be looking to make a special purchase. Dave’s attention to detail doesn’t stop at the making of your bowl. He also carefully and securely wraps it for shipping. Then he mails it off right away, so there’s very little waiting involved. Dave also includes instructions with each bowl on how to keep it looking its best! So, stop on by and have fun looking around. I assure you that Dave will take good care of you!
I received my bowl and am so excited to use it and display in my new kitchen. I recieved very quickly as well. The workmanship is awesome and the bowl is beautifully!
Thank you Dave for another fantastic bowl! I’ve bought from Dave in the past. His work still has that down home, earthy quality to it. His pieces are solidly made with wood that is colorful and will last forever. I just bought a bowl that is made of pecan wood, and pecan is for some reason a wood that I really love. Its patterns and colors are often dramatic, and just plain pretty! Dave is very gifted and he has plenty of pieces, to make your visit to his shop worthwhile. As a matter of fact I already bought ANOTHER bowl which is on its way now! That brings me to another aspect of Dave’s work. He gets what you order boxed up and sent off, so there is no waiting. So if you need a unique gift for a loved one that is bound to be appreciated, come by and enjoy looking around. Maybe the one who needs a unique gift is YOU❗️
