Description

Modular Trays to better organize your boardgame/wargame components!

I love keeping my wargames and boardgames organized and the standard GMT Tray from GMT games are the perfect storage size for most. Unfortunately though the formed plastic takes up a lot more space in the box and sometimes you need just a little more or a little less than a whole tray.

So to "counter" this problem, I created these modular game storage trays and use them all the time in lieu of GMT trays. They allow me to keep my storage more compact, fit in the box, and in many cases force specific. Put all the different armies in their own box custom for their counters.

I've used these with Combat Commander, Fields of Fire, Band of Brothers, Firefly Adventure Game, Lock 'n Load Tactical and many, many more.

The core of the system is the single 5 "well" module (each well is a storage compartment). A GMT-tray is fixed at 20 of these wells in a 5-row, 4 column arrangement. Each module in my system is a column in a GMT-tray. However in this system, you can use a single module or connect up to four to make the size tray you need. Lid patterns are also included for 1-4 module trays. In addition a special 2x3 (6-well) tray pattern and lid are also included. By special request too, single-wall dividers are included that allow you to use a module without the regular wall dividers to make custom size "wells" as desired.

Each module is cut from a single sheet of 8.5x11" cardstock (60# or 110# work great!), so a full tray with lid is five sheets of cardstock so the material cost is quite low.

SVG files are included to allow you to cut these automatically with a Cricut, Silhouette Cameo, Zing Orbit or other paper die-cutting machine.

I normally cut the modules in black cardstock and then the lids to color coordinate to the contents. Labels are normally 2x4" Avery labels.
